Hope you can help, I have ended up as the person responsible for rigging a truss system with spotlights speakers etc. The guy that used to do it left suddenly and it fell in my lap. I am not sure of the regulations regarding fitting chains to lamps on this mobile system. I am also concerned that using an aluminium truss sitting on a wooden floor I should somehow earth the actual rig.
Could you point me to either the regulations that apply or a idiots guide to rigging safely.

Thanks

Considering that we have about 60 lights, 20 cables, and probably about 20 of those 2 way adapters, its quite worrying that the PAT tested equipment ran out in 2005! Last time we did a big show, and had to hire kit, we seperated it from ours because it was all up to date. You say that you have a machine sitting on the desk...where did you get it from. For some reason, we have one for normal sockets going up to 13 amps, but thats it...

Hi! Another random maintenance question, anyone have any idea of how much a service on a Strand 200 might cost me? I have no idea at all so a ball park figure to start with would be great.

Thanks

That's a really useful article! Thanks! I started cleaning all of my fixtures recently (hence my question about lens cleaners) and I noticed last night that the quality of the light almost seemed better on the cleaned fixtures compared to the dirty ones - I have no logical reason for this, but it seemed almost like a cooler, sharper white! Very odd, but well worth the work and actually very satisfying!

Maintenance is the one word I wish I could get my employer to understand.

Our facility is equipped with dozens of trackspots, likos, and other fun fixtures, but when half of them are inoperative because we're shorthanded, it detracts from the beauty a properly operating and choreographed queue can provide.

Much like your car will cease to operate properly without regular maintenance, your lighting fixtures need love too!
