Busking

The term ‘busking’ (often called ‘punting’ in the United States), referrers to the spontaneous control of a stage lighting system in real time as a response to the performance. This is a common technique in concert and event lighting but also extends to all kinds of live show including theatre and dance. We even run online training for busking with modern stage lighting systems.
Programming and improvised running of a lighting system gets increasingly complex along with the technologies used that include moving lights, LED arrays and video/media servers.
On Stage Lighting has had a particular focus on busking techniques since first published in 2007, a time when there was precious little information online about this ‘dark art.’
